Massage Therapy Offerings
Massage therapy has been practiced for centuries and is known for its numerous health benefits. There are various types of massage techniques, each with its own unique approach and benefits. In my practice I utilize an integrative approach primarily combing the benefits of Shiatsu, Craniosacral, Swedish, Thai, and Myofascial Release.
Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu massage originated in Japan and is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves applying pressure to specific points on the body using fingers, palms, and thumbs. Shiatsu massage helps to balance the body's energy flow and promote overall well-being. It can relieve muscle tension, reduce stress, improve circulation, and enhance the body's natural healing abilities.
Craniosacral Massage
Craniosacral massage focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the bones, tissues, and fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This gentle technique involves applying light touch to release restrictions and promote the body's natural healing process. Craniosacral massage can help alleviate headaches, migraines, chronic pain, and improve overall nervous system function.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is one of the most popular and widely recognized massage techniques. It involves long, flowing strokes, kneading, and circular movements to relax the muscles and improve circulation. Swedish massage can reduce muscle tension, relieve stress, promote relaxation, and improve flexibility. It is often used for general relaxation and to address specific muscle issues.
Thai Massage
Thai massage is a traditional healing system that combines acupressure, stretching, and assisted yoga postures. The therapist uses their hands, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure and stretch the body. Thai massage can improve flexibility, relieve muscle tension, increase energy levels, and promote overall relaxation. It is often referred to as "lazy yoga" as it provides similar benefits to yoga practice.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release focuses on the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscles. This technique involves applying sustained pressure to release tension and restore mobility in the fascia. Myofascial massage can help alleviate chronic pain, improve posture, increase range of motion, and enhance athletic performance. It is often used to address specific muscle imbalances and injuries.
Herbal Massage
Herbal massage is a therapeutic practice that combines the healing power of touch with the natural properties of herbs. This ancient technique has been used for centuries to promote relaxation, relieve muscle tension, and enhance overall well-being. At Bodhi Mama Botanicals, we understand the importance of incorporating herbal remedies into your self-care routine, which is why we offer a range of herbal massage products that harness the power of nature to provide a truly rejuvenating experience.
How Herbal Massage Works
During an herbal massage, a skilled therapist applies a combination of gentle strokes, kneading, and pressure to the body using herbal-infused oils or balms. These oils are carefully crafted using organic herbs and botanicals known for their therapeutic properties. As the therapist massages the body, the herbs are absorbed through the skin, allowing their beneficial compounds to penetrate deep into the tissues and provide a range of healing effects.
The Benefits of Herbal Massage
1. Relaxation: Herbal massage promotes deep relaxation by soothing the nervous system and reducing stress levels. The gentle touch combined with the calming aroma of the herbs creates a tranquil environment that helps to melt away tension and promote a sense of calm and well-being.
2. Muscle Tension Relief: The therapeutic touch of herbal massage helps to release muscle tension and knots, improving flexibility and range of motion. The herbal-infused oils penetrate the muscles, providing nourishment and promoting relaxation, which can help alleviate chronic pain and discomfort.
3. Improved Circulation: The massage techniques used in herbal massage stimulate blood flow, enhancing circulation throughout the body. This increased circulation delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells, promoting healing and rejuvenation.
4. Detoxification: The herbs used in herbal massage have detoxifying properties that help to eliminate toxins from the body. As the massage therapist works the muscles, the herbs stimulate the lymphatic system, aiding in the removal of waste and promoting a healthy immune system.
5. Skin Nourishment: The herbal-infused oils used in herbal massage provide deep hydration and nourishment to the skin. The natural properties of the herbs help to improve skin tone, texture, and elasticity, leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth, and rejuvenated.

"Jennifer understood my issues even before we met, and she communicated very effectively with me throughout our session. Jennifer is just the massage therapist I've been seeking since the tragic, early demise of my previous therapist. Everything Jennifer did was healthful and helpful."

I fell in love with body work in 2015 while attending East West College of Healing Arts. As a Licensed Massage Therapist I have studied many modalities including Craniosacral, Shiatsu, Tuina, Swedish, Deep Tissue and Myofascial Release. In 2019 I also travelled to Thailand to study Thai Massage. The modalities my hands seem to gravitate most to are Shiatsu, Swedish and Myofascial. However my practice finds elements of all modalities sprinkled in as needed. Every session is a collaborative experience, as we listen to what your body, mind and soul need during our time together.
Honoring your body's wisdom while providing Somatic awareness and release through a trauma informed lens is foundational to my practice.
